Necromunda Heavy - Chaos cultist

This is (obviously) the Chaos cultist with the heavy stubber from the Dark Vengeance box. I like all the cultist minis from that set - I really think they capture the cultist/outcast/thug feeling - unlike the rest of the DV miniatures which were rather disappointing. The best thing with this cultists however is the fact they can easily become a Necromunda gang, which is one of my all time favourite games.

Although cultists can be painted as regular 'chaos' guys, I prefer to give them a more generic 'underhive ganger' appearance, as I did for this guy. The mini itself is quite decent, and I guess it's modelled after the archetypal 'butcher/executioner/all muscle - no brains' character. The main focal point is obviously the faceless mask, so in order to go around this and give a less sinister look I filled the chaos star on the mask and gave it a skull balaclava paint. Guess that's what any self respecting ganger would do to scare off the competition! I also gave him a tattoo on his left hand as the area seemed somehow empty - this guy has a lot of muscle. I decided to give him a simple tribal design, as any true thug should sport at least one arm covered with tribal tattoos.

The butcher's apron was left white intentionally, to take away a bit of extra evilness, and the base was done from plasticard to resemble some forgotten underhive dome. I particularly enjoyed the way his gun came out - I used progressively lighter tones of metallics on top of a gunmetal coat.

Reaper Bones Marsh Troll - Elephant for DBA/DBM

"Cry 'Havoc!', and let slip the dogs trolls of war"

This is the second Reaper Bones mini to paint for my DBA Orc army, and I will obviously count him as an Elephant. Fun mini, however the are a few issues with the sculpting here as well: His head somehow seems too small for his body, and the plaques on his back, well, I don't think they stick to the mini so well - he looks more like a dinosaur or like Godzilla! I must say though that Reaper Bones line do have some well fitting minis for fantasy 1/72 armies, and hopefully I will paint another one soon. Till then, humans beware!

Light Warg Orcs

Hit by arrows! If it was a normal mount it would have died, but not a Warg!

 Runnin' wild

These Light Warg Orcs are probably going to be used as cavalry for my DBA orc army. It took me longer than I expected to finish them, and they are only six, but it's double the work since you have to paint the warg as well. Sculpts for the riders are average I'd say, but the wargs have cool poses and look really dangerous. Humans beware!

Dark Alliance orcs - set 3

taxi! wait!

There are rumours that the Orc horde is led by evil Elf witches

''the witch was like a magnet; repulsive from the front, attractive from the back''

This is the Dark Alliance set 3 orcs, just adding more infantry to my Orc horde. The guy with the knot top will be a Boss of sorts as he's the most heavily armoured. The witch is obviously the funniest model of the set, and will probably go on the same base as the Boss.

Caesar Orcs 1/72 - painted

Part of an Orcs & Goblins army I'm preparing for DBA/DBM/HoTT or whatever, these are Caesar's Orcs at 1/72 - 20mm scale. They are a bit larger than the Dark Alliance ones, and seem more primitive and wild, so I decided to count them as Savage Orcs. Attack the Romans! WAAAAGH!

Reaper Bones Ogre chieftain - or HOTT Giant - or DBA/DBM elephant

This is a Reaper Bones Ogre chieftain that I painted as a giant for an Orcs & Goblins army in 1/72 scale. I imagine him counting as an elephant under the DBA/DBM rules. Funny thing that this mini was really cheap, and cool to paint too. Nonetheless, the sculpt is a bit over the top - too much muscle on this guy.
His club has a sculpted face, and I would like to think it's a subtle reference to Ettin giants - sometimes two heads are better than one I guess. I also painted a heart on his shoulder guard - he's not such a bad guy really, he just keeps taking the wrong decisions
